Tough Start, Resilient Heart

Sedona's entry into the world was somewhat rough. Due to a fever that Brooke was running during labor, and the fact that she came down the birth canal with her head cocked a bit sideways, she was born under stressful conditions. She had to be taken to the nursery right away and hooked up to an IV for antibiotics and fluids. Along with needing some oxygen and chest x-rays, her first night was anything but soothing. However, we were able to be with her the whole time, touching her and talking to her and this seemed to give her a bit of peace. At 3:30am they woke Brooke and I up and said she was stable enough for us to try and feed and hold her. She went strait to the boob and fed for 40 min then fell asleep in my arms. That was all she needed, knowing somewhere down in her subconscious that she was loved. This is an image of Brooke talking to her and my hand on the back of her head during the process.
