Mmmmmmm

Breast pump stew, anyone?

Ready to Run

Sedona, dressed in her running hat, doing some relaxation exercises before we took her out for a run on the rec path Saturday morning.

Big Kicks

More excitement from Sedona as she delivers kicks of joy over the mobile.

Message in a Baby Bottle

Beers, Adirondack chairs, mountain views, and Sedona all made for a perfect Friday happy hour. Also noteworthy is that while the three of us were sitting on the deck we noticed a young Mom walking down our street with her new baby girl. Shocked and a bit over-excited we yelled "hello" to her like castaways stranded on a desert island who've just spotted the rescue plane. Turns out her and her husband live 3 houses over, are full time residents, and have a 6 1/2 week old girl. Hallelujah!

Day at the Lake

Sedona has 2 mountain lakes within 15 minutes of her house. On Friday Brooke and Sedona met up with a few of the girls and their kids at the Waterbury Resevoir. Not a bad way to spend a Friday afternoon.

Bumbo!

Sedona has been using the Bumbo seat for the past couple of weeks. She's taken a liking to sitting on the counter and having a good chat with Brooke over lunch. These magical moments are what I miss every day while at work.

Cozy at Home

A cozy night.

Carla Sleeps Over

Carla Bates (formerly Vey) our close friend and swimming teammate of Brooke's at Syracuse made the trip up to Stowe this past week for an overnight visit, making her our first house guest. Sedona, Brooke, and Carla spent the day adventuring around Stowe.

Edible Vermont

Aunt Laura made the most amazing cake EVER!

Fathers Day and Family

Melanie and Kirby threw a great Fathers Day bash at their place. It was wonderful to see Uncle Jason and Aunt Laura. As usual, Rowan was hamming it up and Sedona was delightfully cute smiling for all her aunts and uncles.

Orange Crush

While in Boston, in between cleaning and closing, we were lucky enough to meet up with Jamie and Val and Skye, Kristin, and their 3 1/2 month old girl Mckenzie. Might these gals be Syracuse University class of 2032?

Did we forget anything?

While cleaning out our condo before the close, we did one last check to see if we'd left anything behind. Oops.

Adventures in Babysitting

While down in Boston for our condo close, Melanie, Kirby, and Rowan generously kicked Brooke and me out of the nest, bestowing on us our first date night without Sedona. Supposedly the job was pretty easy as she slept most of the time. Be that as it may, Brooke and I painted the town over canned Bud Lights and fried fish. Image taken at The Lobster Shanty in Salem, MA. Many, many thanks to the Turners.

More from the Farm

You've seen the movie, now for the glam shots.

Creatures from Above

Recently Sedona became interested in things going on around her. People other than Brooke or me, objects, toys... TOYS! My dream come true. Once we were on to this, I woke up early one morning and rummaged through the basement to unearth the mobile that we got for her awhile back. Instant hit. She's enthralled with this thing. Magical creatures from above, music that soothes, and constant motion. What more could an 8 week old kid want?

Follow the Cow

Sedona finding interest in the Cow finger puppet.

Pack 'n Play Sequence

Since moving to Stowe we've shed the car seat for the Pack 'n play when it comes to Sedona's bed. Here she is in the morning, which is one of her most alert and happy times of the day. For those that wonder what it feels like to be a new parent here's a bit of insight: waking up exhausted for the 3rd night in a row of sporadic sleep (filled with many diapers, feedings, and crying sessions) to find your beautiful daughter wide awake, smiling from ear to ear, and wanting nothing more than to interact with you. In an instant you transition from borderline despair to beaming with unconditional love and joy.

Little Duckling

Sedona was lying on her back for a while and when I picked her up her hair looked like baby chick fur. This makes me wonder if one day she'll be blessed (or cursed depending on how you look at it) with the Kaplan Jew Fro?

Reinforcements Arrive

For our last night in Killington Aunt Melanie and Cousin Rowan came up for some mountain fun. I was in Boston for the night wrapping up the packing while the girls and Rowan went out to Casey's Caboose for some grub. Watching my daughter and nephew grow up as mountain kids gives me such a sense of happiness.

Mail Call

I live. I ride. I deliver the mail.

Vermommy

Brooke and Sedona took a girls day out while I was slaving away for "the man." They went down to Woodstock for the day and stumbled upon a local farmers and craft market.

Backfilling...

Here comes 3 weeks worth of content that's been piling up on the camera.

Fists of Furry

While Sedona hasn't taken to the pacifier, she has found a substitute and clear way to let us know when she's hungry. It's as if her hands have been fondued in breast milk.

Down on the Farm

Sedona continues to open up and discover the wonders of objects that live around her. Here she is enthralled with the farm animals hanging from her play mat, which is a good start for local adventures near our home. We've got sheep, cows, and horses nearby that she'll be taming soon enough. Once we get her some overalls. Ee-i-ee-i-oh!

BACK ON THE AIR!

After 2 weeks off due to a lag in getting our internet connection at our new home in Stowe, we're back and ready to blog with plenty of new content. Sorry for the hiatus, folks.

Here's a quick video of Sedona amusing herself in the bouncer. She's gaining some independence and playing by herself a bit as of late.

Tootsie ROLL!

5 weeks and 6 days old and Sedona rolled herself over today! We'd like to take this opportunity to emphatically deny any use of Human Growth Hormone or any other type of performance enhancing substance in Sedona's training program.

Morning Talk Show

Sedona was quite talkative this morning.

Then There Were Three

When Brooke and I got engaged at Killington (over a chord of wood that needed stacking) we went to one of our favorite wood fired pizza joints, The Outback (no, not the chain restaurant famous for such delightful dishes such as the Bloomin' Onion and the Great Barrier Rita). Last night for our 6th Wedding Anniversary we went back and brought Sedona.

North of the Boader

Brooke's close friend from high school, Denise, was in Boston the week before we moved and made time to get together and hang out with the girls. This was Sedona's first meet 'n greet with a real live Canadian! She came home and promptly told me she wanted some Ketchup chips.

Shag-o-licious

More action on shag. Reading and playing. Gotta love the shag.

Unkowingly Useful

Sedona has been starting to use her hands a bit. Nothing that seems intentional, at least not in an conscious manner. Nevertheless she's starting to look at them and wonder what they are for. Here's a shot of her holding onto the blanking as she pulls it taught, keeping herself snuggled in.

Continued Snoozing

More Sunday morning snoozing, this time on Brooke's shoulder. So peaceful...

Double Chin

Sedona is gaining weight. Her face looks more round than it did a few weeks ago and we've noticed a double (and at times a triple) chin when she's scrunched down. Still a peanut but getting bigger.

Sleepy Morning

Snuggled and fading into sleep...

Diaper Sunrise

At 5am Sedona woke up hungry and needing a diaper change. There was this intense orange glow peaking through the blinds almost as if the forest was on fire just outside. I took this image from the back porch of the morning sunrise as clouds were rolling in before the rain storm hit later today.

Little Leprechaun

A huge rain cloud rolled into the valley where Rt 4 is, dumped monsoon-like rain, and then left two beautiful rainbows in its place. We found this little leprechaun sitting in a pot of gold at the end of one of them and decided to bring her home!

Tummy Smiles

More tummy time with some hand eating and a big smile for the camera.

Air Guitar

Sedona rockin' out.

Why She Smiles

Sedona's smiling more and more each day. She seems to like these finger puppets we have of a Cow and a Frog. Another theory suggests she's about to smash out her diaper with a gigantic poop. But hey, who's to say?

Title, Deed, and Daughter

We closed on our house in Stowe this past Tuesday and took Sedona to her mountain home for a first-night camp-out. Exhausted but elated, we poured some wine, ate some local pizza, and made a fire.
